SAP Application/Desktop Application

Can i Automation Desktop Application such as SAP, i know its sounds wierd as Selenium Web driver is only used to automate Web Application but is there any addon where we can Automate SAP desktop Application or any desktop application using Selenium, if Selenium is not the answer can you please let me know which open source tool is best suited as i have many use cases to automate for Java based application/Desktop Application
