Mobile Testing With Selenium or Appium?

Let me know what are the advantages of APPIUM while compare to Selenium in mobile testing.I mean what are the advantages of APPIUM in mobile testing.

Let me know the possibilities of Mobile Testing with Selenium (Real Device Testing) without using APPIUM.

Here in my project we are testing very simple web based application where we need to test in browser as well in mobile devices like Android & IOS Phones as well as Tab. Is there any specific system requirement required for APPIUM.

Let me know setting up to test mobile application without APPIUM.
